General map tour: from the green starting point no. 1 till the red finish point no. 25 the total distance is 114 km.
Starting point tour: depart A6 exit no. 18 (on the road between Lemmer and Joure) towards Woudsend.
At the street café directly across the bridge in
Woudsend you have a first class seat
for the show of
passing yachts, sailing boats and all kinds of pleasure boats and vessels.
From the street café in Woudsend back to the N354 towards
Heeg for a stroll through the village.
De
Eel fishermen from Heeg were real
entrepreneurs in the past: they possessed an exclusive landing stage at the
quay of the Thames,
near the Tower Bridge in London.
Meanwhile their business mentality did not change: on nice sunny days there is just as much
activity
here as in Central Amsterdam on a Saturday afternoon. After the 'stretching of one's legs' back in
the car towards Blauwhuis.
From Blauwhuis via highway E22 through the city of Bolsward towards Makkum. A stroll through the small city and along the harbour is a must here!
On our way to the next city, you definitely have to visit the very small village of Piaam and drink a nice cup of coffee (or tea) in the beautiful restaurant
'De Nynke Plaets'
From the village of Piaam to the magnificently renovated city centre of
Workum with (again) several inviting
street cafés
near the
' Waag' and the impressive Church of
Workum. And at a short distance the well known
'Jopie Huisman Museum'.
From the 'metropolitan' Workum towards the small and picturesque fishing city Hindeloopen with its
marina, its
characteristic 'Lemsteraken' and the
painting studio of Johan Mulder located in the small main street 'Buren no. 44' where you are allowed to walk in any time, even when he is at work.
And along the road just behind the dike of the IJsselmeer towards
Staveren (or Stavoren), Bakhuizen and
via road N359 up to Balk.
Just before reaching Balk turn to the right and drive along the N359 back to Lemmer.
