In a limited amount the very first shining Fiat 124 Sport Spiders rolled out of the
Pininfarina works in Turin in 1966, after the introduction of this model took place in October of that year.
Creator of this classic, timeless masterpiece was the legendary car designer Pininfarina.
Responsible for the throbbing sound from under the arched Spider hood was the famous engineer Aurelio
Lampredi (the same Lampredi from - among other things - the Ferrari V-12 engines). The car was built
with several engines and in different performances, the specific versions built well over 200 Hp, were
exceptionally succesfull in international rallies. The production of the Spider stopped definitively in 1986,
after a production period of 20 years and 200.000 cars! The period of shining chrome and double
carburators cannot be reversed presumably. For that reason, it is the assignment of the Fiat 124 Spider
club, of its members and of every enthusiast to honor this unique car, merely to show the world how a
"real car" looks like.
